Communities of InterCultural Learning Program Tour Leader

Department: Workforce and Economic Development
Location: Boston, MA

Communities of InterCultural Learning Program Tour Leader (CoIL) Boston tour leaders guide international students to historic sites, learning field trips, and community service projects to the destination sites in a safe and timely manner. They engage in meaningful, cross-cultural interactions with students throughout the trip.

Responsibilities:

  • Arrive at departure meeting location at the designated time.
  • Bring students to designated excursion sites as reflected on the program schedule in a safe and timely manner.
  • Take a headcount before and after an excursion.
  • Learn about the tour destination by researching it ahead of time.
  • Prepare to provide an engaging presentation to students in your group about the place they are visiting.
  • Contact the CoIL Boston program manager immediately should a problem arise during the trip.
  • Make recommendations to students around key places to visit and eat and assist in navigating Boston using public transportation.

Professional Conduct:

As a CoIL Boston tour leader, you are representing Bunker Hill Community College. Please act honorably in all trips you are scheduled to conduct. Your purpose is two-fold: 1) Chaperoning students to the destination safely and on-time and, 2) Interacting with the students in ways that build understanding and mutual respect. As a representative of the college, everything you say and do reflects the institution. We expect all communications and behaviors to be professional, in line with BHCC’s student code of conduct.

Requirements:

  • Highly interested in learning about other cultures, customer service orientation, helpful, great attitude, good academic standing.

Additional Information:

Salary: $30 per hour at up to eight hours per week. From September 2026 to November 2026, you will be assigned no more than four tour assignments during this period.
